Dear CSSA members:
We are writing to inform you about a protest this coming Sunday (4/24)
against Japan's bid for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security
Council. The goals of this protest are the following:
* To promote a healthy Sino-Japan relationship with the prerequisite of
a deep and thorough introspection and self-examination by the Japanese
government over its past military aggression and the disastrous
consequences such aggression had brought to Asian people.
* To demonstrate a firm resolution against Japan's bid on the permanent
membership of the UN Security Council without such an introspection and
self-examination by its government.
* To raise awareness inside the general American society about the
irresponsible stances that the Japanese government has taken thus far
regarding its past war crime.
* To demonstrate the constructive attitude of overseas Chinese over
Sino-Japan relationship in a nonviolent, peaceful and highly organized
manner.

Participating organizations: Over 100 local Chinese and Asian groups
from S. Cal., including CSSAs from USC, UC Irvine and other local
schools.
Time: Sunday, 4/24, 10:00am - 12:00noon
Tentative program:

newspapers since Thu 4/21)

St., Los Angeles, CA 90012)
10:30am - 12:00noon march to Consulate General of Japan in Los
Angeles

Safty concerns:
- Nonviolence, rationality and safty of our participants are amoung
our top priorities and we will take all possible means to ensure them.
- CSSA-UCLA will provide safty guidelines on the day of the event,
and we will try to stay together during the protest.

the organizing efforts (such as collecting pictures, printing flyers and
making banners). Or, you are welcome to directly come to our poster
and banner making session at Thursday (4/21) 6pm at MacDonald Rsch. Lab

large amount of work is involved and we will highly appreciate your
participation.
